Windows 10 lock screen timer1/31/2024 Today the Windows 10 Lock screen combines style with convenience, which means you have access to plenty of handy functionalities even before getting to the desktop. With Windows 8, the Lock screen got a new lease of life: users were granted an opportunity to set a distinct wallpaper and see the time and date, calendar events and app notifications. Indeed, these days it is highly unlikely that someone could tolerate a situation whereby they are greeted with anything but their favourite visual or a specified set of functions when starting their work on a Win 10 PC.Īll this luxury is a far cry from what we had earlier: in ancient versions of Windows, Microsoft’s customers had no alternative but to put up with the tech giant’s decision to stick to the boring lock function some of us remember too well. To start with, Windows 10 users are literally spoilt for choice: there are lots of options to choose from when tailoring the Lock screen. Customizing this feature, by common consent, is a great opportunity to add a creative touch to your device. There is no getting away from it: your Lock screen is supposed to be a highly personalized experience these days. On the other hand, changing the Registry worked perfectly, and after making the tweak, I can simply go to the Power Options settings in Control Panel and adjust the Lock screen timeout without having to use any commands.‘First you harmonize, then you customize’ It's worth noting that while changing the Registry settings is an advanced task, during my test, I have found that sometimes using the command lines may settings may not work as expected, but it's an alternative. You must replace /SETACVALUEINDEX for /SETDCVALUEINDEX if you want to change the timeout setting on your laptop or tablet running on battery. The command mentioned in step 2 will work when your computer is using AC power. Use the Windows key + L keyboard shortcut to lock your PC and see if the new settings work.
